Gemma McAvoy is a talent agent with Emptage Hallet in Cardiff.
In her session for acting students she will cover:
How to prepare for auditions / audition techniques
How to prepare your CV and showreel
An insider's guide to the media industry
Session 2
3pm-3.30pm All SSAW students
Gemma will cover preparation for casting sessions (for directing and producing students as well as actors)
Session 3
3.30pm-4.30pm All SSAW students
Following Gemma's session attendees will break out into 2 groups to ask more detailed questions of Gemma and Gwen Price.
SPEAKER BIOGRAPHIES
Gemma McAvoy
Since graduating from Aberystwyth University with a degree in Theatre, Film and Television Studies, Gemma has worked for a number of high profile, national and international organisations including the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and the Royal Shakespeare Company. She is currently an actors’ agent for the Cardiff branch of Emptage Hallett, and represent some of the most well respected talent in Wales. In 2007 she became a founding Board Member for the new National Theatre Wales and in 2009 she joined the BAFTA Cymru Management Committee.
Gwen Price
Originally from Welsh speaking farming stock in Cardiganshire Gwen's family moved to London when she was 10. Gwen joined the BBC in Shepherd’s Bush in the 70s after working for a London Theatrical Agency and production company returning to Wales in her twenties. She then joined BBC Wales working in a variety of areas in radio and television, ending my BBC career in the Drama Department as an Associate Producer. Gwen was involved in productions such as LIFEBOAT, SELECTED EXITS and DROVERS’ GOLD. She opened a satellite branch of Emptage Hallett in the late 90s as an agent representing a hugely talented group of actors.
