Rose Butler Masterclass

Rose Butler is one of four artists short listed by Visiting Arts; London for a 3 month international artists fellowship in Colombia. She is currently exhibiting a selection of screen-based work at Consortium Gallery; Amsterdam: http://www.consortium-amsterdam.nl.

This summer she was commissioned by FACT and BBC Big-Screen; Liverpool to produce an interactive installation for Art and Architecture Week 2006. This work launched Through and Far Between, a programme of contemporary screen based work: www.37Seconds.co.uk.

This month Rose’s digital short BOX was chosen to represent Western Europe in the One Minute Awards; Amsterdam: www.theoneminutes.org. Next year, (June – September), her work will be exhibited at the Millennium Galleries as part of Lovebytes 2007.

Her recent piece of work One Lime Street, based on the Lloyds building London and made in collaboration with Kypros Kyprianou, was commissioned by the Arts Council of England and Site Gallery; Sheffield. It comprised of a six screen animation and was exhibited as part of Immediate 3, July  - October 2005.

2004 she was commissioned by Corridor Arts to produce STALL which toured 3 venues. STALL consisted of a life size replica of a local fruit and vegetable market alongside a four screen, interactive and sychronised animation.

Rose received an award at the Becks Futures Student Prize for Digital Video 2004 for the multi-screen animation Platform. It was screened nationally including the Centre for Contemporary Art; Glasgow and exhibited at the Institute of Contemporary Art; London.

Last year she completed a Masters Degree in Fine Art at Sheffield Hallam University where she was awarded a distinction, she is currently a lecturer at Chesterfield College of Art. Before she came to Sheffield she lived and worked in London where she founded the educational charity Zoom In Photography and worked at Chisenhale Studios as Education Co-ordinator. She has worked freelance for Tate Britain and the Whitechapel Art Gallery, London.
