Masterclass Overview

Access to experience

Ensuring that students are able to benefit from close contact with members of the film industry is paramount if they are to develop instincts for best working practice and become familiar with production values and on-set experience. Students on SSAW courses will gain inspiration and guidance from those with years of experience in film by interacting with such individuals through masterclasses, mentoring and residencies.

Masterclasses

The Skillset 100 list of industry practitioners has been set up by the National Film and TV School to assist us in setting up masterclasses and seminars to complement the SSAW courses. The SSAW staff also work closely to find other industry professionals from Wales and the UK to support those available on the Skillset 100. Large numbers of students and interested members of the public usually hear from industry members at masterclasses, which are followed up by closely focused workshops with students. Masterclasses held to date have been conducted by Mike Leigh, Bill Plympton, Michael Dudok De Witt, Justin Kerrigan and numerous others.
