Shortlist Announced for Zoom Young Filmmaker of the Year Award 2008, sponsored by the Film Agency for Wales

Young Filmmakers across the South Wales Valleys and beyond will be pleased to hear that the long awaited shortlist for the Zoom Young Filmmaker of the Year Awards 2008, sponsored by the Film Agency for Wales, has finally been announced. The competition is running as part of Wales’ International Young People’s Film Festival 2008, a four day festival which will be taking place from the 7th to the 10th February and is set to be jam packed with screenings and media workshops organised by Zoom.
The short-listing panel has watched all 60 film entries and has managed to whittle it down to short-list entrants into the 9 award categories. (the 10th Award is voted for by the Audience) This year each category has three nominations apart from Best Fiction that has four nominations.  So far “Seeing is Believing” is leading the way having picked up four nominations!  Next week, the grand jury will be getting together to decide who will be walking away with a coveted Zoom award.

Come along to our award ceremony on the 10th of February at the Muni Arts Centre in Pontypridd to see who the winners are.  Tickets cost £2/3 for the Zoom Young Filmmaker Awards, sponsored by the Film Agency for Wales, and entrance to the after show party is just £1!  To book tickets call the Muni Arts Centre now on : 01443 485 934 or visit our website for more details on the awards ceremony and the festival itself – www.zoomcymru.com
