Crossover Cross-Platform TV Course for New Talent
October 2009 to April 2010

Are you a newcomer who would like to acquire the skills to work in multi-platform production or programming for television?

Over a period of seven months, you will learn about cross-platform production and programming from producers, commissioners and industry experts on a course that been supported by Skillset’s TV Freelance Fund.

You will see the industry in action at the Sheffield DocFest in early November, with its digital Crossover sessions and dynamic TV market. You will gain work experience with one of the UK’s leading production companies or digital agencies and follow e-learning modules designed to equip you with specialist knowledge you will need to function as an independent producer.

Then, in a process that follows real industry practice, you will learn how to generate ideas for new types of media, form an independent production unit, develop a project and pitch it for real to commissioners. By the end of the course you will have gained real industry experience and contacts and should have in-demand skills that will give you a distinct advantage in applying for jobs, working as a freelancer or setting up your own company.

All your costs will be covered: what we need from you is the motivation, determination and imagination to succeed in the most exciting and rapidly developing area of television.

Places are very limited and competition will be strong, so make sure to convince us that you have the drive and imagination to succeed in the world of digital broadcasting.
