Industry recognition for experimental film produced during SSAW/UWN’s Animation Residency 2009!
A concept designed by BAFTA award-winning animator, Ian W. Gouldstone and contributed to by a group of 3rd year BA Animation students at University of Wales, Newport, has sparked the attention of film festivals and online art forums.
Ian Gouldstone joined the UWN students for the SSAW funded three-week Animator-In-Residence scheme in May 2009, where they created To Whom It May Concern, an experiment in spontaneity that focused on playing with animation rather than obsessing over the finished product.
To Whom It May Concernhas just been reviewed on the new Animate Projects site, where you can watch the piece in full. The review will shortly be followed by an in-depth interview with Ian, who has lots to share from his experience as Animator-in-Residence at UWN.
The British and Irish Film Festival, Britspotting, features the film in its Experimental category, calling To Whom It May Concern ‘a very special experiment’. The film has been shown in Berlin and it about to embark on a tour of Germany with the Britspotting Festival.
