SSAW Supports FFresh 2010!

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! The Ffresh Student Moving Image Festival of Wales 2010 comes to life next month with the same winning ethos that’s had SSAW signing up as a sponsor for the last 3 years.  We like to think that both SSAW and Ffresh have the same goals at heart: helping to forge stronger links between higher education and the media industry, and, crucially, promoting the best student work to a wider audience.

So we’re thrilled to be on board for another action-packed festival and hope that as many SSAW students, graduates and tutors as possible can join us for the two-day event, which takes place at the Aberystwyth Arts Centre from 10 – 11 February.
As well as exhibiting alongside our partner Universities, SSAW is proud to sponsor the International Showcases including the Best International Short Award. The international showcases were one of the highlights of Ffresh 2009 and consist of work chosen by Ffresh’s international partner festivals. They include:

•        Vancouver Short Film Festival
•        Shanghai Student Film Festival
•        Fresh Film Festival (Karlovy Vary)
•        Sydney Film School Film Festival
•        Cinemagic (Northern Ireland)
•        Puchon International Student Animation Festival
•        Expresión en Corto (Mexico)
•        Sehsüchte International Student Film Festival
•        Open St.Petersburg Student Film Festival "BEGINNING"
•        Roshd International Film Festival

This exciting category showcases the best student work from around the world and encourages debate about standards and quality amongst the Ffresh audience, and also helps to raise the festival’s profile in the UK and internationally. All of the films screening as part of the international showcases will be eligible for the Best International Film Award.

The full festival programme is due out in the next week so check the website for updates.
