TAPS – FORTHCOMING SCREENWRITING WORKSHOPS:
TAPS Writing for 60-Minute Drama - “The Bill” & Beyond!
Date: 24th, 25th, 26th February 2010
Location: “The Bill” Studios, London
Price: £325 (Inclusive of VAT!)
Do a studio tour, meet the key players and follow the creation of an episode from storyline to transmission. Working in groups, practical exercises will allow you to master the 4-act structure. You will also compare and contrast other 60 minute series particularly in relation to the differences between 8pm and 9pm timeslots.
The comprehensive 3 day workshop is headed by top writers Tom Needham (The Bill, Cold Blood, Silent Witness) and Stuart Morris (Holby, The Bill, Casualty). Programme input is provided by Tim Key - Series Producer, Alex Smith - Series Script Editor, Police Advisors and other staff from the series.
This course is a joint venture between TAPS and Talkback Thames. It will show you exactly how to modify your views of story and structure for the 60-minute drama.

TAPS Script Editing
Date: 26th & 27th February 2010

The Script Editor is vital in the creative process though it is often unclear just what that role consists of and how one becomes an editor. This course, created and led by script consultant Diane Culverhouse will guide you step-by-step through the editor’s position.
Topics range from searching for original talent to a detailed exploration of the relationship between writer, script editor and producer. You will also work on honing your script analysis technique as well as investigating the storylining process.

TAPS Comedy, Crossing the Boundaries - 360 Ways to be Funny!

TAPS three day workshop - Comedy Crossing the Boundaries - is a writer development programme, teaching skills needed to address multiplatform comedy content for internet, mobile phones, games, film, television and radio. Writers will also learn how to pitch a multi-platform brief.
Submit an idea for your own comedy TV sitcom, internet clip or mobile upload and watch your words come to life (or death) as professional actors read your lines and discuss your ideas in a constructive workshop environment.
The course for established freelancers is supported by Skillset and features tutor input from the EU Media Expert on Digital Media, an internet Guerilla Producer, Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran and Charles Garland amongst other special guest tutors.
