Expanding Welsh production company set up by SSAW graduates to speak at SAND 2007

One of Wales’ fastest growing businesses, iCreate, will be sharing the secrets of their success at this year’s SAND event, on Monday 26th November.

Managing Director and Co-founder, Dawn Lyle, will be at Technium Swansea (Building 2) on SAND Business day to talk about the award-winning company.

iCreate work with professionals in the residential and commercial property industries, providing high quality 3D renderings and virtual tours of new buildings. They now boast an international client list, with customers throughout Europe and the United States.

The company was started in 2003 by Swansea Institute graduates, Jake Major and Dawn Lyle. From humble beginnings on the Institute’s Mount Pleasant campus, the company’s growing success saw them move to the Technium SA1 Building in 2005, employing more Institute graduates to handle the increasing workload.

Dawn Lyle said: “Everybody at iCreate has put in so much work over the years and now we are seeing the results through the amount of projects we are working on.

“Our clients are increasingly faced with the problem of having to sell a major proportion of new developments ‘off plan’, so they’re looking for new ways of capturing the interest of potential buyers before a building is completed.”

Keeping up with demand has meant that iCreate have relied on the production line of 3D Computer Animation talent coming from the School of Digital Media at Swansea Institute. There are currently eight people employed at the company, six of whom are Swansea Institute graduates.

Dawn explained: “The amount of work we take on is dependant on the number of graduates coming through. Knowing the lecturers and the quality of the courses has given us the confidence to grow our team with Swansea Institute graduates.”

On a recent visit to the company, Ieuan Wyn Jones, Welsh Assembly Minister for the Economy and Transport said: “iCreate is a made in Wales success story – an imaginative and innovative young business that is developing and delivering the next generation of marketing tools and successfully targeting a niche market. I am delighted that the Assembly Government, through the Technium network, is helping to support such enterprises.”

In 2005, Dawn was crowned Swansea Bay Young Business Woman of the Year and in 2006 she was featured in the Wales Business Insider’s listing of the top 25 ‘rising stars’ of Welsh business.

Also in 2006, iCreate were included in the Western Mail's annual 'Hot 100' listing, a definitive guide to the top 100 start-up businesses in Wales.
