Many students have progressed from short term placements into full time professional paid positions and feedback shows that placements will help you decide on which area of filmmaking you would like to concentrate on.

Top Tips for applying for placements

When you are registered with SSAW you will receive calls for placement opportunities and jobs - and we will need you to send us/the production company your up to date CV and a cover letter explaining why you would like the position.
To see what a cover letter should include log on here.

Please consider the following, to ensure that your application is as good as it can be!

These are taken from feedback received on unsuccesful applications...

1) Research the production company and the specific production and tailor your cover letter and CV to suit.

2) Is it a Welsh production (if so consider starting your letter with Annwyl (Dear) and ending with “Yn gywir iawn" (Yours sincerely) even though the rest of the letter is in English

3)  Find out who is going to be reading the application and address it that person.

4) Include your University/College experience as such - rather than as professional or vocational experience. List it seperately to any other professional experience.

5) Make sure to include contact details on your CV!

6) Only apply for a position if you can commit to the dates and only apply if you have experience/can drive/ etc if this is requested when we email you

7) Create a professional email address that will make a good impression - "imagreatfilmmaker@hotmail.com" is not going to impress a potential employer!
